We have been involved in Kathu High School for 6 years now running the school’s value driven program called GATEWAY. The vision is to develop, encourage, and equip the learners to reach their full potential by enhancing the practice of positive values, attitudes, behaviour and skills.
The focus of this project has been organisation culture transformation which aims to get the learners to take the responsibility of building a culture that they would like to see in the school.
Part of our involvement in the school is the development of value driven material which the teachers facilitate within the classrooms, training of leaners to run the small groups, running of appreciation and outreach projects as well as offering counselling sessions to the learners.
We had the privilege of developing Curro Kathu’s Ignite Program. This purpose of program is to assist the school in being intentional about the type of culture of they want to see developing within the school.
The idea was to create, build and sustain a good and healthy culture within the school. A culture that will cultivate a school that honours Jesus Christ as Lord, practices positive values, maintains school pride and builds school traditions that will remain for generations to come.
We have the responsibility of handling all the fun and games at the #Imagine Youth. This requires coming up with and organising games and activities to keep +/-1500 teens busy. These activities should encourage good sportsmanship, team work, corporation and forming connections with others campers from different walks of life and backgrounds.
We developed a Custom Value Driven Program for KTS , as well putting Cultural transformation Systems in place so that they can build a school culture that they can be proud of, a culture where every leaner feels loved and accepted, fosters positive attitudes, helps them reach their full potential.
The goal of this program is to enhance the school’s every day program and it should not be an event that happens once a week. All the values we put in place should become part of every learner, teacher and staff member within the school. The school’s every day program should complement this program and it should compliment the school’s everyday program.
The goal is not to create a consumer mentality among the learners, a mentality of wanting everything to be done for them, we should encourage them to buy into the vision of the “we have” with this program, take responsibility for it and run with it. We want them to have the freedom to be able to take initiative and ownership for it.
